The idea of the luncheons is to bring in leaders from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors to interact with our MBA students in an informal environment.

Dr. Paul G. Stern, PhD Co-founded Thayer Capital Partners LLP and has been its Partner since 1995. Dr. Stern co-founded Thayer Equity Investors III LP in 1995. He joined Thayer as a member of TC Equity Partners and TC Management. He served as Treasurer of Arlington Capital Partners. Dr. Stern was co-founder and Partner of Arlington Capital Partners, Arlington Capital Partners I, L.P, Arlington Capital Partners II, L.P and Arlington Capital Partners III, L.P. since 1999. From June 1993 to June 1995, he served as a Special Limited Partner of Forstmann Little & Co., a private investment firm. From 1989 to June 1993, Dr. Stern served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Northern Telecom Ltd., now known as Nortel Networks and President until 1993 and as its Vice Chairman. He served as a Consultant of Northern Telecom Ltd. until 1989. In January 1981, he joined Burroughs Corporation and served as its Executive Vice President of Engineering and Manufacturing and then later served as its President from May 1986 to December 1987 and Chief Operating Officer since May 1982. Prior to Unisys, Dr. Stern served as the Corporate Vice President and later President of Commercial Electronics Operations of Rockwell International Corporation with responsibility for strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Rockwell, he served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Braun AG, a West German subsidiary of the Gillette Company and held numerous senior management positions with IBM. Dr. Stern served as a Treasurer of John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. Dr. Stern Founded two prominent investment companies and has served as a Senior Executive for a number of high technology companies. He has a wealth of financial experience and industry knowledge. He serves as the Chairman of Claris Capital Partners, Claris Capital LLC., and Arlington Capital Partners. He serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of Claris Holdings LLC. Dr. Stern served as the Chairman of IQI from November 1996 to July 1998. He served as Co-Chairman of ATC Communications Group Inc. (now, Aegis Communications Group Inc.) from July 1998 to May 1999 and also served as its Director from July 1998 to May 1999. He has been a Director of SAGA Systems, Inc., since April 1997. Dr. Stern serves on the Board of LTV Corporation, Software A.G. and Systems Inc. He serves as Member of Board of Advisor at Decision Lens Inc. Dr. Stern serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of Truist, Inc. (known as CreateHope Inc.) and Arlington Capital Partners. He serves as a Board Member of University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School and Business Executives for National Security (BENS). He served as a Director of ePlus Inc. He served as a Director of ManTech International Corp. from November 18, 2004 to June 6, 2007. Dr. Stern served as a Director of the Dow Chemical Company from 1992 to May 10, 2012 and served as its Presiding Director since May 2006. He served as a Director of Whirlpool Corporation since April 1990. He served as a Director of Northern Telecom Ltd. from 1988 to 1993. He served as a Director of Stonebridge Technologies, Inc. He served as a Member of the Advisory Board for CepateHoe Inc. Dr. Stern was a member of Trustees of Library of Congress. Dr. Stern received his BS from Farleigh Dickinson University and MS degrees in Electronics Engineering (Thermonuclear PlasmaPhysics) from Steven's Institute of Technology. He also received his PhD in Solid State Physics from Britain's University of Manchester, England.
